Birch Box 2012

So usually I do a video when I get my birchbox so you can come along with me while I open it and experience it too but, since my camera died and I misplaced my battery charger,
this blog will have to do for now.

I almost cancelled my subscription to BB since I lost my job but I realized that, BB is the one thing I look forward to every month. It's something that I get excited about and
it's something that i look forward to getting in the mail.

It's like I get a gift each month and it's always so much fun to see
what I got compared to others who subscribe too.

There are many other people out there that subscribe to Birchbox and make videos on it. That is actually how I found out about it. I fell in love with the concept right away.

There are other types of sites that do something similar to Bichbox but they either cost more and only do cosmetics or they just don't have the selection the birchbox does.

So here is my January BB:

This is the card I get that explains what is in the box.

This is supposed to help with Puffiness and such under the eyes. i tried it but I don't really have puffy eyes so I guess I will put it in my kit to use when I do weddings and other gigs.

Stila eye liner in the color Moray and the swatch below.

It's a olive green color with gold specks in it. It's really pretty once you put it on and it's water proof. I had a hard time removing this in the shower with water and rubbing it with my finger.

This is one of my top favorite scents in the world. It is so warm and sweet but not too sweet. It smells fresh and flirty. I have a small bottle of it at home so this one will go in my purse :)

This night creme is nice and feels great on ths skin. I haven't used it long enough to see a
difference in my skin but I will let you know if I do.

There was also a small sample of the Witchcraft Granola which I put on top of some vanilla yogurt and It was so good. I guess I got so excited to try it that i forgot to take a picture of it. If you look at the photo of the open box with everything in it you can see a square bag full of it.
Yummm. I think I am going to get some more.

My box also had this and a birchbox magnet in it so I put it on my fridge. It has some helpful tips :)

I hope you enjoyed this blog. I know it's not as entertaining as me being a silly excited person when i make my videos but It will do for now. If you want to try a BB just go to www.Birchbox.com and sign up. You can pay for a year in advance, get a 3 month trial subscription or just do a month to month like me.

Change is coming!!!

Well actually, it already has arrived. As of Jan 6th of this year I officially am part of the numerous people who are unemployed. It's a sad thing but I see it as a blessing in disguise.

I worked at a 8-5 job that I really wasn't fond of and only stayed there because I have bills to pay. As many Americans, I disliked my job with a passion. I found it difficult to get up in the morning knowing I had to go back there for the rest of the week and prayed for the weekend to never end but, when you have bills and other necessities to buy, you gotta do what you gotta do.

My Makeup Artistry has taken a back seat for a while since I worked so much and I have been wanting to be free of the 8-5-er so I can put all my energy and attention into my Makeup Career. It's all I've wanted for the past year and a half and now that it's finally here, I'm not really sure where to begin.

I have been given the gift of time and it's almost too much for me to take. I'm so used to the daily routine and that's all changed now. Change is a good thing. Sometimes I welcome it and sometimes I try to avoid it at all costs. I'm sure some of you can relate to that feeling.

So, I have decided that instead of wallowing in the sadness of unemployment, I am going to do what I have been praying for for so long now. I am going to dive into this crazy world of beauty and fashion on a mission to make a name for myself as an MUA. I have a general idea of where to start but it's difficult to define a point to start from and go from there.

I am in the process of getting new business cards to spruce up my look and I plan on handing out as many out as I can to as many people as I can. I am going to network with photographers and other MUA's and even other models if possible and hopefully start a bridal makeup company of sorts. If anyone has any advice for someone like me in my position, please, all comments are welcome.

I am traveling on a road I have never navigated and there are going to be some bumps and U-Turns and maybe even dead ends but, I am going to do it. This is my dream and God is now giving me the chance to really go for it. I can't be upset about that now can I? I got exactly what I asked for. This is the sign he has given me and he is directing me where I am supposed to go in life. It's only taken me 25 years to realize what I love and want to do with my life but it's better than never figuring it out.

I am on a journey to become a successful Makeup Artist. I have booked a gig at Sutra on Saturday, January 21st and it begins at 7pm. It is similar to the RAWartist events I have done in the past so if you are in the area, your support is greatly appreciated and it would be awesome to see some familiar faces in the crowd.
I hope to see you there.

I am so thankful to have a loving husband, a supportive family and friends I can count on in times like this. With out you, I would be curled up in a ball and crying out of fear of the unknown. I will not let that happen. I am determined to push through this and move forward with my dreams.
I have been through worse before, believe me. This is nothing. I got this.
(And even though I got this, encouragement is always welcomed :)

Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings and thoughts. I hope you are having a wonderfully happy day/night and that your new year is going well. Take care my friends. Come back often because I will have time on my hands to now devote to this bloggy of mine.

Lots of Love

RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization that hand-selects and spotlights independent creatives in visual art, film, fashion, music, hair & makeup artistry, photography, models and performing art.

RAW's mission is to provide up-and-coming artists of all creative realms with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity so that they might be seen, heard and loved. RAW educates, connects and exposes emerging artists in 22 artistic communities nationwide through monthly showcase events.

At the end of every RAW season, we host an annual indie arts award show, and we call it RAWards. All of our artists who have participated throughout the RAW season (February-October 2011) are eligible to compete for the title of best in their craft (Art, Fashion, Accessories, Music, Film, Photography, Performing Art, Hair & Makeup). Each artist is given the opportunity to compete for career-building prizes such as gallery placement, boutique placement, big consultations and RAW's Golden Ticket.

Because we can't pick our favorites (RAW loves all of our artists), we leave this in the hands of the nation, your community and our trusty professional panel of judges.
These are the nominees in your community. Help choose the artists who will represent your city in the nationwide finale! Live voting takes place at this event; come and show your support!
